Tan Kah Kee Scholarship for Study at Xiamen University of Technology in China

The Tan Kah Kee Scholarship is offered by Jimei Alumni Association and Chiyu Banking Corporation for overseas Chinese and people of Chinese origin residing in countries along the 21-century Maritime Silk Road to study in Xiamen, China, in response to President Xi Jinping’s urge, in his letter of reply to Jimei Alumni Association, for us the people of Tan’s hometown to further spread the spirit of sponsoring youth to good education by Tan Kan Kee, flag of overseas Chinese.

Xiamen University of Technology, a fast growing public university in Xiamen eligible for Tan Kah Kee Scholarship students, is now admitting qualified applicants:

I. Applicants

Focus on countries along the 21-century Maritime Silk Road and priority is placed on overseas Chinese and students of Chinese origin from Southeast Asian countries with HSK certificate and mandarin capability a plus.

II. Qualifications

1. Support One China policy, abide by laws and regulations of the Chinese government, be friendly to one’s country of origin and have a good health.

1. Have a letter of recommendation by an overseas Chinese association including one’s kin group or by an influential overseas Chinese or person of Chinese origin in the applicant’s country of residence.

1. Requirements of applicants’ education and age:
1. Applicants for bachelor’s degree courses are required to have senior high school certificate/diploma or above, less than 30 years of age generally, and applicants for bachelor 's degree courses delivered in English are required to have TOEFL or IELTS scores.
2. Applicants for master's degree courses are required to have undergraduate degree or certificate or above, less than 35 years of age generally, and applicants for master's degree courses delivered in English are required to have TOEFL or IELTS scores.
3. Applicants for one year non-degree courses or short-term non-degree courses shall be not less than 18 years of age non more than 60 years of age
2. Recipients of Chinese Government Scholarship or other relevant scholarships or grants are generally not eligible for Tan Kah Kee Scholarship.

III. Scholarship coverage

1. The Tan Kah Kee Scholarship covers tuition fees, accommodation cost and comprehensive medical insurance.
2. Tan Kah Kee Scholarship recipients are entitled to living allowances for ten months per year, to be delivered monthly as follows:

2600 yuan per month for Master’s students.

2,500 yuan per month for Bachelor’s students.

1,200 yuan per month for one year non-degree students.

500 yuan per month for short-term non-degree students.

3. Tan Kah Kee Scholarship review is annually conducted to assess the academic performance and social behavior of the recipients. Students who violate Chinese laws or XMUT regulations, engage in inappropriate student behavior or provide fraudulent application materials, or whose academic performance fails to meet the requirements of XMUT shall have their Tan Kah Kee Scholarship or other Scholarship cancelled.
